In our collaboration and in her other roles, I see her bringing curiosity, care, and a commitment to accessibility and liberation. Her ideas, insights, and questions offer expansive possibilities that spark imagination and joy in myself, and made our movements in collaboration feel more alive. Among her qualities, Denise Shanté is a truth-seeker, and I believe part of her power is her practice of showing up authentically with vulnerability and care. Within all aspects of creative practice, I honor fluctuating capacities and require spaciousness with timelines that will support my process as a disabled, chronically-ill person.
